Enige tijd geleden is Corpus Deļ-frontman Marc Suijkerbuijk begonnen met het zoeken naar manieren om de muziek & ideeėn van Corpus Deļ te verspreiden onder een groter publiek. Als resultaat hiervan is in machine ghost opgericht.
In machine ghost is een collectief van muzikanten dat van start is gegaan in 2011 en dat haar basis heeft in Hengstdijk en Terneuzen (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen). Momenteel bestaat het collectief uit oprichter Marc Suijkerbuijk, zanger-gitarist Eddy de Putter en bassist Paul van Meijl. In de toekomst zal de samenstelling worden uitgebreid met gelijkgestemde muzikanten en/of kunstenaars.
De opzet van in machine ghost is om een brug te slaan tussen enerzijds muziek en anderzijds poėzie, literatuur of kunst. Dit gebeurt in de eerste plaats via eigen teksten of gedichten, maar het komt ook voor dat aan bestaande teksten een muzikale interpretatie wordt gegeven. Voorbeelden hiervan zijn het op muziek zetten van gedichten en woorden van Sylvia Plath, W.B. Yeats, T.S. Elliot en Alessandro Barrico. Ook zijn in het verleden bijvoorbeeld verschillende schilderijen van Marc Chagall voorzien van een muzikale context.
De muziek zelf is over het algemeen donker en wordt gekarakteriseerd door de grote menselijke thema's. De stijl is uniek, maar komt waarschijnlijk het dichtst in de buurt bij new wave bands uit de jaren 90 en alternatieve singer-songwriters van vandaag de dag.
De basis van het in machine ghost-geluid wordt gevormd door akoestische instrumenten, maar bij live uitvoeringen wordt naast het live-geluid op het podium een centrale plaats ingeruimd voor een laptop. Deze laptop wordt gebruikt om drumloops, zangpartijen of geluidsamples mee te laten lopen. Een kruising tussen mens en machine dus, die mede de naam van het collectief verklaart.
Daarnaast wordt gebruik gemaakt van bewegende beelden of fotos die worden geprojecteerd op een scherm, en die een aanvulling of verdieping vormen ten opzichte van de muziek die op het podium wordt gespeeld. Hierbij wordt waar mogelijk samengewerkt met beeldend kunstenaars. Hoe groot het podium ook is, er wordt steeds naar gestreefd om de gehele setting de intimiteit te geven van een huiskamer en of een kleine theaterzaal.
Door een groeiende groep mensen wordt het in machine ghost in haar genre gezien als een van de belangrijkste bands van het Europese vasteland van dit moment. Met het uitbrengen van nieuwe songs en het geven van optredens op locaties die goed aansluiten bij de muziek zal in de naaste toekomst getracht worden om dit enthousiasme nog verder te vergroten.

Some time ago, Corpus Deļ-frontman Marc Suijkerbuijk began to look for ways to propagate the music & ideas of Corpus Deļ among a wider audience. As a result, in machine ghost was founded.
In machine ghost is a collective of Dutch musicians (based in Terneuzen), set up to write and perform music which mainly revolves around "the big human themes". The music itself is mostly dark anc characterized by nostalgia. The sound is acoustically based, supplemented by synthesizer loops and samples.
The lyrics constitute an important part of the compositions, which is underlined by the songs wherein the work of poets abd writers is put to jusic. In this respect, in machine ghost has given the words of Sylvia Plath, W.B. Yeats, F.M. Dostojewski, Franz Kafka and Louis Ferdinand Celine a musical context, in a constant attempt to combine poetry or literature with contemporary music in a meaningful way.
The most important musical influences seem to be a number of new wave bands from the 90s, for example some bands of the English 4AD label.
Being a collective of musicians wherein members join or leave depending on the type of project that is worked on, the composition of in machine ghost changes all the time. Constant factor, however, is Marc Suijkerbuijk (vocals), who will bring a number of Corpus Deļ songs into the realm of in machine ghost during the next years, together with Eddy de Putter (guitar and vocals) and Paul van Meijl (bass).
At the moment, In machine ghost is preparing for live performances in Te Netherlands and Belgium. For this, the help of several musicians is needed (see Concerts/Wanted).
on stage, In machine ghost will be brough to life by a mix of live performance and samples/loops. The samples can be sounds or loops of instruments and/or vocals, and will make an indispensable contribution to the live sound. This mixture of man and machine explains the collective's name.
Combining when possible small platforms (such as small theatres) with sober lighting, the staged performance should have the intimacy of a living room. In addition, In machine ghost will seek collaboration with other artists in order to combine graphical elements (photo, film, lyrics) with stage performance.
